Arranged Marriages |
Mary and Joseph had an arranged marriage, as was the custom at the time. The marriage paper, or legally binding contract, was signed at the time of the arrangement of the marriage, which may have happened before the two people had even meet. This is different from our western marriage custom, when the legally binding contract is signed immediately after the marriage ceremony.
