Fifth angel's bowl had darkness for the kingdom of the beast and painful sores for mankind.
See ninth Egyptian Plague. Exodus 10:21-22. Darkness upon Antichrist's kingdom.
Fifth plague: so painful were the sores on their bodies that they eat their tongues in agony (pain) but still they still cursed God and refused to repent ( turn to God and ask forgiveness)

16:11 又 因 所 受 的 疼 痛 ， 和 生 的 疮 ， 就 亵 渎 天 上 的 神 。 并 不 悔 改 所 行 的 。
